Taro 10:  Strength in World of Atziluth

An alternative name for the card is "subjugation" since it is strength by indirection, not by FORCE (see taro 22/88). "Strength" in the Adar and Adargate (shown sitting on a lion - representing Leo) myth, comes from the clarity of purpose facilitated by the cleansing power of the sun. The strong personal

bond between the man and woman is their particular strength allowing them to maintain control of their dominion in the wider world.

Apolline, with long pointed beard, is the Assyrian depiction of the Sun. He stands between two eagles signifying power, wears a fire hamper or brazier, and his staff bears the goddess Victory on top. These associations cause me to place the taro in Atziluth, Fire Watchtower. However in his other hand he holds a flower symbolising feminine or passive strength. At his feet, a serpent encircles the simulacrum of Earth, many-breasted Nature, and primal Matter; the coiled serpent is subject to, and a partner of, the Sun.
