Taro 5:  The Hierophant in Assiah    

Giano (Janus) is the God of the Hinges of the Doors. He holds in his hand a key which

represents his principle role governing time, and as door-keeper of the year.

The doors of his temple were opened to the population in times of war , and closed

in times of peace (hence the soldiers shown in the Imago). More is explained about this

Important deity in preceding taro, 4/88 Two Lights (or “Hidden Sun”). I argue that

the Pope or Hierophant trump of the later 22 Taro series is based on this image.
