THE ORIGINAL TARROCHINI WERE PAGAN!
Several of these emblems are DIRECT ancestors of the common tarot “22 Major Atous”. Although engraved in 1614, these are direct copies of much earlier C1st BCE drawings and statues found around Italy and catalogued by Vicenzo Cartari in 1571 CE. I vary the names of the Tarot Four Worlds sometimes to reveal alternative interpretations and aspects. The numbering remains consistent in both sets. Steve Nichols
These 88 imagos (click to view) have been handcoloured from Hachenburg’s 1614 engravings after Zaltieri’s 1577 originals. Free for personal use, but not for sale or publication. The colorings are specific to Ptolemaic (100 BCE to 1 BCE) originals as recorded by Cartari 1571. 366 page BOOK includes history, extra illustrations and divination meanings.
