Taro 83/88 “Carnality,” “Carnal Pleasure” or Venus. The Lovers, World of Briah (the Water Watchtower).

In T4W the deities are shown often as Triumphs or parades of the deities, their sacred stone being transported or their greatest deeds celebrated in the emblematic Imago. Their bird symbols usually accompany their deities.

This Trionfi is unusual in that a pair of  Doves (lascivious symbols) lead a second pair  of Swans (considered symbols of  innocence). She holds a knot, which must always be ready to be untied for love, or sealed to form a relationship. She remains undressed in this taro (but not in some others) “to reveal every good to the one who goes behind the pleasure.” She has the symbol of light or a torch on her chest. A round ball (or egg) and three orbs of gold show her ability to dominate the world and its wealth. The navel stone, or Omphallus, suggests the labyrinth, or umbilical cord. This card relates to female sexuality as 72/88 (Priapus) relates to male fertility.
